About the role

We are looking for a Resourcing Officer to join our Rail Division, playing a key role in ensuring the safe, reliable and compliant delivery of train crew rostering and planning.

As part of the Resourcing team, you’ll create and manage traincrew rosters, diagrams and daily plans to meet operational, commercial and customer requirements. This is a fast-paced and detail-oriented role where you’ll work closely with Operations, Traincrew and wider stakeholders to optimise efficiency, maintain compliance and support business performance.

What you’ll be doing

  • Creating, issuing and managing traincrew rosters, diagrams and daily sheets
  • Ensuring rosters and plans are safe, compliant and aligned to customer and business requirements
  • Managing changes to rosters, including reallocating work for disruptions, training, leave and unplanned demand
  • Producing and maintaining accurate WTT and short-term traincrew diagrams
  • Ensuring full compliance with company terms, industry standards and regulatory requirements
  • Monitoring and reporting performance against key KPIs (e.g. sickness, leave, costs and utilisation)
  • Managing traincrew annual leave in line with agreed terms and conditions
  • Supporting the implementation of roster and link changes
  • Liaising with Traincrew and Operations teams to optimise rostering efficiency
  • Identifying improvements to rosters, diagrams and planning processes
  • Ensuring timely issue of weekly rosters to support the delivery of the train plan
  • Supporting cost optimisation, including minimising rest day working where possible
  • Providing resourcing input to business development, commercial and contract activities
  • Supporting apprentices and contributing to team development
  • Building strong working relationships across internal teams and stakeholders

Training & development

At NTS, we invest in your development and progression:

  • On-the-job training in rostering systems, processes and industry standards
  • Exposure to operational planning, service delivery and performance management
  • Opportunities to contribute to system and process improvements, including new technologies
  • Ongoing professional development within operations, planning and rail environments

Who we’re looking for

Experience

  • Experience in rostering, planning, operations or a similar coordination role
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, operational or logistics environment
  • Experience engaging with multiple stakeholders to deliver operational outcomes

Knowledge

  • Understanding of rostering, scheduling or operational planning processes
  • Awareness of compliance requirements within a regulated or safety-critical industry
  • Knowledge of rail operations or transport/logistics environments (desirable)

Skills & behaviours

  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing demands
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret and act on data
  • Proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Commitment to safety, compliance and operational excellence
  • Positive attitude with a “can do” approach

The Kind of People We’re Looking For

We’re interested in who you are, not just what’s on your CV.

You’re likely to thrive at NTS if you:

  • Take ownership of your work and enjoy being trusted to deliver
  • Are collaborative, approachable and naturally supportive of others
  • Care about doing the right thing, in the right way
  • Are curious and motivated to learn, improve and grow
  • Communicate openly and act with integrity and respect
  • Are comfortable working in a purpose‑driven, safety‑critical environment

You don’t need to tick every box on day one — we value potential, attitude and alignment with our culture just as much as experience.
