Job Title: DRS Engineering Trainer

Reports to: Engineering Training manager

Department: Rail Division (Production)

Job Purpose:

In This role the successful candidate will be required to assist in all aspects of engineering training for the DRSL vehicle fleets and associated equipment, including involvement in the national ETCS project.

To assist the Engineering Training Manager in delivery and development of training courses and management of competency for DRSL engineering staff.

Principle Accountabilities

Key areas

  • Work within the Engineering Production Team to ensure training deliverables are met efficiently and to the Engineering Production requirements.
  • Development with engineering SMEs of engineering training courses.
  • Delivery of training courses
  • Liase with relevant departments to support the growth and delivery of engineering training.
  • Review and update engineering training materials.
  • Assist in the management and update of the Engineering CMS
  • Organise third party training to align with Depot Managers and engineer’s competency.
  • Attend internal meetings to keep up to date with and support the Engineering departments training needs.
  • Attend external training courses for development of self and engineering training.
  • Attend industry ERTMS meetings as required and ensure DRS maintainer training requirements are fully understood and can be met and that any decisions made in any maintainer training forum do not adversely affect freight operations.
  • Development, with industry partners, of ERTMS maintainer training courses and review of maintainer training material.
  • Review and respond in a timely manner to industry maintainer consultation documents relating to training activities.

Requirements

  • This role requires a high level of motivation with a flexible attitude and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Have proven experience of maintenance engineering.
  • Extensive knowledge of traction and rolling stock systems, particularly of fleets pertinent to DRS
  • Have good understanding of Maintenance standards and other UK applicable railway legislation.
  • Possess effective organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and written.
