Business Manager (Nuclear) 

What is the key purpose of this role? 

Job Purpose  

To support the Head of Contracts & BD (Rail & Solutions) and contribute to the success of the Commercial Division. To effectively manage existing Rail business and develop and maximise further opportunities in line with NTS marketing strategy. To develop contract/pricing strategies in line with company policies/procedures and to lead on specified aspects of contract negotiations and business development in specific markets with minimal supervision. To support NTS marketing activities, manage/cultivate customer relationships to deliver profitable and sustainable new business for the Rail and Solutions business lines.

What do I need to excel in this role? 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Needed 

  • Business Management: 

  • Successful management of existing customer contracts in a professional manner, within designated market sector to ensure key company turnover and return on sales are achieved to plan or target 

  • Effectively manage and develop new account opportunities to maximise revenue streams whilst meeting customer requirements and expectations 

  • Develop, manage, update, and adhere to departmental procedures (i.e., Product Realisation) 

  • Successfully develop suitable comprehensive proposals to meet customer requirements and commercial benefits for the company 

  • Actively and professionally engage in the negotiation process and progress opportunities to contract award 

  • Lead throughout the full Tender Process including where required or necessary, the preparation of EOI’s, PQQ and Tender Bid in line with business requirements  

  • Credibly and actively engage with all departments to ensure capability, competency and resource required to successfully deliver services is considered prior to committing to service requests 

  • Conscientiously attend regular forum meetings to keep abreast of market changes and updates 

  • Accurately prepare periodic sales and costs report for sales trends and analysis in a professional and timely manner 

  • Ensure all quotations are developed within margin guidelines referenced in the Commercial Pricing Bible 

  • Manage all Grant applications (road to rail) where applicable in a time aware manner 

  • Arrange and lead on regular contract Review meetings ensuring contract target & efficiencies are achieved (approved format for documentation) 

  • Professionally manage third parties that impact directly onto DRS customer requirements ensuring delivery, safety and cost are in line with agreed terms 

  • Support in preparation of the departmental Business Plan.
